Words of Praise

Parents, students, administrators, and fellow teachers rave about Katherine’s skills as a teacher.

Katherine is organized and efficient in her work. She promotes new ideas with research and thoughtfulness, and loves to be innovative in her ideas and projects. Her flexibility and support to other staff members have been much appreciated, and she has become an important part of the OLP team of teachers, as well as the preschool program.
Katherine has been able to work with any age student, from pre-school through eighth grade. She is knowledgeable and professional in her work, and Katherine would bring her ability to work well with adults, and her love for children, to any position.

Katherine has worked very closely with other staff members to develop cross-curriculum projects and interdisciplinary activities, bringing art and design into other curriculum areas. She collaborates well with all staff, and is very willing to assist in any area needed.

— Ms. Jan Heuman, Principal Our Lady of Peace School 2016

People skills are essential in education. Relating to students in the classroom is not a problem for Katherine. She can stir up a conversation with a group of students as well as communicate effectively with students one-on-one. Katherine also had an excellent working relationship with me as well as other staff members.

She was comfortable working with students from day one. This assertive comfort is quite an asset when working with teenagers willing to expose vullnerabilities in someone with less confidence.

Her greatest asset is her knowledge of art and media. She has a broad vocabulary of art and art principles and a wide knowledge base of artists and their work. She is also proficient in several art disciplines where she showed great skill in drawing, color theory, as well as Adobe software including Photoshop.

She has demonstrated the skills needed to teach art at the high school level. She has a great attitude and work ethic.

— Eric Lundgren, Elk Mound Art Department, 2013

You will not find a candidate who has more passion. She is a go-getter who does not shy away from hard work. She steps up to the plate when opportunities are presented. Miss Kenner reflects on these experiences, welcomes feedback and researches ways to implement feedback and improve her student’s learning experiences.

In her senior show, Saints Preserve Us, she utilized graphic design and social media to re-imagine centuries-old Christian traditions and give faith a modern twist. Her work showed me that she has the ability to animate religious studies — to reach out to young generations and make the Word come to life. The social media aspect of her show was a good example of just how her communication and team building skills can help unite individuals. She has the enthusiasm, training and passion to be an important member and leader of any community of faith.

I can think of no better person to fulfill a position with your establishment than Katherine Kenner.

–Jennifer Hakes, Providence Academy 2014

In my five years as UW-Stout’s Art Edcuation Fieldwork Supervisor, I have seen student teachers present thousands of lessons. Katherine Kenner’s teaching is some of the most innovative I have seen. Her lessons are creative and concise — both entertaining and informative.
