Visual Stories
My photos are more than just snapshots. They tell the stories of the people at the heart of the schools and communities where I’ve worked.
I Never Saw Another Butterfly
Images of Terezín
One of the highlights of my life was visiting Terezín in the Czech Republic, where I photographed remnants of the Holocaust. During the Holocaust the Czech town of Terezín was turned into a ghetto. It had an active school for the imprisoned children. The school was run by an art teacher. Her student’s drawings were turned in to a book. The title comes from a small child’s writing: “I Never Saw Another Butterfly.” My travels led to a gallery exhibit at the Jewish Community Center of St. Paul, Minnesota.
