A Doorway to the Past, Present, and Future

Art history is my passion. I love studying famous artists and teaching my students how — and why — artists create. I use art as a doorway to a broader view of history, social studies, literature, language, and human nature. I also use art to illustrate STEAM principles of technology, engineering, and math.

Art history isn’t a dusty relic of the past, because new art is constantly being created. Today, thanks to technology, we can see world-class artists developing new work in real time. I follow cointemporary artists online, and I’ve shared their work with my students. We’ve even communicated with them through social media.

I believe in the past, present, and future of art. I teach art so that all of my students can create a better future, both as art enthusiasts and agents of creativity in their own right.
